41 Day Challenge
Families Walking in the Word Challenge
Setting aside intentional time as a family each day is a powerful way to grow closer to one another and to the Lord. This 41-day devotional program invites your family to unplug from the noise of daily life and spend time together in God’s Word. Whether it’s a walk through your neighborhood or a quiet car ride when the weather keeps you indoors, the goal is to create sacred space for Scripture, conversation, and connection.
Each day, you’ll read a selected Bible passage and discuss thoughtful reflection questions that help everyone engage and share what God is teaching. This simple practice turns ordinary moments, like walking down a familiar street or driving past your community, into opportunities for spiritual growth and heartfelt discussion.
To deepen your experience, close each family time with prayer. Rotate who leads each day so every member from the youngest to the oldest can lift your family’s needs, express gratitude, and seek God’s guidance together.
Varying your setting can keep the experience fresh. Try walking a different park trail, exploring a nearby area, or simply enjoying a slow drive through your community while focusing on God’s presence. Staying local and visible allows your family to be a quiet witness of faith, showing your neighbors what it looks like to make time for one another and the Lord.

Why 41 days?
The number 40 holds deep biblical significance. Throughout Scripture, “forty days” often marks a decisive period of testing, transformation, and readiness for God’s new work:
-
Noah and his family endured 40 days and nights of rain during the flood, after which God brought a new beginning (Genesis 7:4).
-
Moses spent 40 days on Mount Sinai receiving the Ten Commandments and meeting with God (Exodus 24:18).
-
Elijah journeyed 40 days to Mount Horeb and encountered the Lord in a time of renewal (1 Kings 19:8).
-
The Israelites wandered for 40 years, being shaped as God’s people before entering the Promised Land.
-
Goliath taunted Israel for 40 days before God used David to bring victory (1 Samuel 17:16).
-
Jonah announced God’s warning to Nineveh, offering 40 days for repentance and change (Jonah 3:4).
-
Jesus fasted and was tempted in the wilderness for 40 days to prepare for His public ministry (Matthew 4:2; Luke 4:2).
-
After the resurrection, Jesus appeared to His followers for 40 days, preparing them for the coming of the Holy Spirit and their lifelong mission (Acts 1:3).
In each account, the 40 days are not the end—the 41st day brought a new chapter, often marked by hope, renewal, or a fresh calling. So, as your family embarks on these 41 days, pray and expect God to work in your hearts. The goal is not just to finish a program, but to experience a spiritual renewal that continues on your own “day 41”, a lasting change that draws your family closer to each other and to the Lord, equipping you to shine His light in your home and in your community.
